Marine and Vehicle Fleet Audits
Energy NZ has conducted marine energy audits for some of New Zealand's largest ferry and fishing companies. Vessel propulsion is very energy intensive and fuel bills which make up a high percentage of operating costs.
Fuel consumption is strongly dependent on vessel speeds and operational behaviour. Energy NZ can track position and speed using GPS loggers and correlate this with fuel use data either from the engine management system, or directly logged off the engine.
Onboard diesel generated electricity is expensive. Energy NZ can log electricity use and identify areas for improvement.
Our vehicle fleet audits can be assessed against benchmarks, route choice can be logged and assessed and the appropriateness of the vehicle fleet determined. Vehicle maintenance practices are also investigated and individual vehicle CO2 emissions can be recorded.
